Economic Benefits

If you will be staying in Oklahoma City, you should know that our cultural scene is one of our best-kept secrets. Check out the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Ballet Oklahoma, the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, the impressive new Oklahoma History Center and any of our six successful theater companies.

The Myriad Gardens and Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory can rival any botanical garden you’ve ever seen, with a collection of plants from every continent except Antarctica.

For nightlife, it’s hard to beat our vibrant and historic Bricktown, with a full range of restaurants and clubs, a movie mega-theater, unique shops and our very own river walk.

WRWA is one key part of the OKC Renaissance

MAPS, together with private development, increased the number of hotel rooms in downtown OKC, created more and better convention and meeting space (Cox Convention Center and created thriving venues for arts (OKC Museum of Arts and Ford Center), sports (the Brick and Cox Center), dining and night life (Brick Town) and entertainment (the canal). The introduction of the Spirit trolley provided easy transportation for visitors. All of it together has set OKC on its way to becoming a destination city, increasing air traffic into the city. NOTE: Cite recognition of OKC in convention planning publication.

MAPS for Kids and the Oklahoma City Public School Foundation have begun the process of improving the city’s common education. Private developers have begun creating downtown and midtown residential habitats. And economic factors (low cost of living, acceptable highway systems, and growing non-stop air service) have been a factor in making OKC a better place to live and raise a family. NOTE: Cite placement of OKC in quality of life surveys.

WRWA, though not funded by MAPS or other tax dollars, has become a fitting gateway for our renewed city, and enjoys a symbiotic relationship with this renaissance and growth.
