American Airlines Adds New Nonstop Route from OKC to Phoenix

December 7, 2017

OKLAHOMA CITY, December 7, 2017 – American Airlines announced that it will begin nonstop service from Oklahoma City to Phoenix, AZ beginning April 3, 2018.  Phoenix Sky Harbor becomes the fifth American hub served nonstop from Will Rogers World Airport. The new route enhances American’s connecting options throughout the west, as well as many international destinations.

"We are thrilled to see American continue expanding in the market,” says Mark Kranenburg, airports director.  “American has a long history in Oklahoma City and we anticipate that the additional service will only strengthen its presence here by providing our customers more options for travel.”

Over the last several years, American has shown confidence in the OKC market with the addition of two other nonstop destinations, Los Angeles, CA and Charlotte, NC.  The carrier has also increased capacity by adding larger aircraft on certain routes such as Dallas/Ft. Worth.  The cities currently served nonstop by American from WRWA are:  Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Los Angeles and Phoenix.

The new Phoenix service will utilize the Bombardier CRJ-900 offering two-class service.  The schedule is as follows:
