WRWA PREPARED FOR WINTER WEATHER

December 17, 2016

National Weather Will Impact OKC Flights

Maintenance crews at Will Rogers World Airport are prepared for the anticipated winter storm expected in the Oklahoma City area today into tomorrow. Current conditions at the airport are good with no impact to the runways and taxiways. Crews are ready for the predicted snow later this afternoon. Current weather forecasts call for less than one inch of snow in the area and it is not anticipated that the airport would close. However, conditions can always change quickly so airport staff will be monitoring throughout the day and evening.

While conditions are good at WRWA, travelers may still see delays out of Oklahoma City due to this storm’s national impact. Several flights to and from major cities such as Denver and Chicago have already been delayed or cancelled because of the weather in those areas. De-icing of aircraft in all cities where there is precipitation will also delay operations.

Travelers should always check on the status of both arriving and departing flights prior to coming to the airport. Two good sources for checking flights are flyokc.com or flightaware.com
