OKLAHOMA CITY, November 5, 2018 – Southwest Airlines has launched its new nonstop flight to Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA) from Will Rogers World Airport.  The new route provides service to one of the City’s most requested airports.

“Nonstop service to DCA is a significant air service achievement for our community,” says Mark Kranenburg, airports director.  “Oklahoma City has considerable connections to the nation’s capital.  We are the seat of state government and have a sizable federal presence with Tinker AFB and the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in addition to thriving business sectors such as energy, bioscience and aerospace.  All will benefit from this added route.”

Washington Reagan is one of numerous WRWA air service enhancements over the last year.  In addition to DCA, Southwest also began weekly service to Nashville last month.  Frontier Airlines began operations at WRWA last November and offers nonstop service to Denver and Orlando.  American Airlines introduced daily nonstop service to Philadelphia and Phoenix last summer and begins its nonstop service to DCA in February.  Regional carrier Via Air introduced nonstop service to Austin.

Southwest Airlines is the largest carrier at WRWA.  The addition of Washington Reagan brings the total number of number of cities served by Southwest Airlines from WRWA to eleven.  Las Vegas, Dallas Love, Denver, Baltimore, Phoenix, St. Louis, Houston Hobby, Chicago Midway, Washington National are served year-round with daily service.  Orlando and Nashville are served with less-than-daily service.  The average number of daily departures is 20.
